After this Tuesday’s session of the Parliamentary Commission, which the Frente Amplio legislators did not attend because they considered that it was a “circus” and a political maneuver against Carrera, the ruling party legislators held a press conference.
“We regret the absence of the Broad Front senators in the Commission. It would have been interesting to hear the position of the party that was responsible when the events occurred”, said the senator of Cabildo Abierto, Guido Manini Ríos.
In the same sense, Gandini said that the absence of the FA in Commission is a fact, from the republican point of view, “serious and unpleasant”. The nationalist parliamentarian stated that Charles Carrera “missed the opportunity to explain, oppose statements and defend himself.”
On the other hand, Gandini said that both the young man who was shot in 2012 and is in a wheelchair, as well as his brother, publicly said that they are from the Broad Front, and stressed that they do not belong to the National Party.
“If there is political intent, as the FA says, it did not come from any of the coalition parties,” he remarked.

He added: “They are all Carrera’s signatures for the Treasury Department to pay ‘police baskets’, which by law cannot be destined for another destination, to the young man who had been shot in La Paloma; and Treasury paid the equivalent of an agent’s salary for three and a half years to said person”.
Gandini also said that “departing from current regulations, this person who was left disabled and his brother were admitted to the Police Hospital, when both are civilians and the care in said hospital is only for police officers.”
“All these updated expenses to date are equivalent to 260 thousand dollars, so they will be reiterated against Carrera’s assets. The legislator has to pay what he improperly made the Ministry of the Interior pay, ”said the white parliamentarian.
Gandini added that “beyond the fact that the objective was humanitarian, solidarity cannot be done with foreign money and without the authorization of the Law, when it comes to public resources.”
In addition, he wondered: “Why was this tortuous path traveled? Who fired that bullet that disabled the young Víctor Hernández?
Gandini said that new actions and expertise are being carried out on the bullet that left the house of the former deputy commissioner.
He also stated that “the Ministry of the Interior is facing a civil lawsuit for damages suggested by Charles Carrera and the lawyer, Dr. Eduardo Fiorio.”
