As part of the efforts to guarantee citizen security, maintain public order and prevent crimes, the Ministry of the Interior and Police notified 17 nightclubs in the municipalities of La Victoria and Baní during week number 12 of Operation Peace Guarantee. There were 18 arrests.
Members of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Program (COBA), units of the National Police, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the Ministry of Defense participated in the operation.
It covered sectors, night establishments, streets and main roads and led to the arrest of 13 people during the night of Friday and five on Saturday, for investigation. In addition, notification was given to 17 alcoholic beverage businesses for violations such as obstruction of public roads, noise pollution and knives.
The general director of COBA, Fermín Domínguez, explained that the intervention responds to complaints from neighbors and that as law enforcement authorities, they have the responsibility of guaranteeing peace and reducing insecurity.
On Friday, 16 speakers were seized for emitting music at excessive volumes, in violation of Law 287-04 on the Prevention and Limitation of Harmful Noise. These actions were in Hacienda Estrella, Juan Tomás and La Ceiba, among others, in La Victoria.
Meanwhile, in the capital of the Peravia province, the operation notified establishments, including Sin Límite Liquor Store, El Tigre Azul Drink, El Rinconcito de las Mujeres, El Sony Drink, Sumamela Drink and El Yara Discoteca.
The operation was led by the director of COBA, Fermín Domínguez, together with the chief prosecutor of Peravia, Ángel Darío Tejeda Fabal; Colonel Juana Yudith Almonte, South Central Regional Director of the National Police; Lieutenant Colonel Ángeles, deputy director of the Central Investigation Directorate (Dicrim); Major Jesús M. Suero, in charge of the DNCD; and Lieutenant Commander Montaño Méndez, of the Dominican Navy.}The National Police reaffirms its commitment to the tranquility of the residents of La Victoria, guaranteeing compliance with the laws and promoting peaceful coexistence in the municipality.
About Operation Peace Guarantee
The Operation Peace Guarantee project began on September 6 with the purpose of regulating noise pollution, the sale of alcoholic beverages outside authorized hours, the illegal occupation of public space and prohibiting the entry of minors to nightclubs.
This operation, led by the Ministry of the Interior and Police in collaboration with the National Police, the Ministry of Defense, the National Directorate of Drug Control and the Public Ministry, has intervened in areas of Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Hermanas Mirabal, Peravia , La Romana, Puerto Plata and other parts and managed to close nearly a hundred clandestine businesses.
