Santo Domingo.- Dozens of people who were in the facilities of the Ministry of Labor left the place in terror this morning at the sound of a fire detector alarm.
The employees and personnel who were inside the building were forced to leave the institution’s headquarters by security agents, after 11:00 in the morning, when the event occurred, without knowing exactly what triggered the alarm.
journalists from Caribbean who were in the vicinity of the building when they realized the situation, they approached the building with the intention of entering, which was denied by the agents.
Both the security personnel and others present were hermetic about the fact.
Most of the employees of the government entity were led to the back of the building and a few, together with the visitors, went to the front.
One of the employees, who reserved his name, told this medium that in the more than 20 years he has been in the State agency, this is the first time this has happened.
Colonel Oscar D. Neder Machuca, head of security for the Ministry of Labor, preliminarily explained that “about two months” ago the fire detector alarm was installed there, so it is a new piece of equipment. He announced that they acted according to protocol.
He emphasized that he needs the order of the Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel de Camps, to offer the details of the case. Authorization that did not arrive.
According to witnesses, supposedly a short circuit on the third floor was the cause that activated the alarm.
A few minutes after the evacuation, people were ordered to go back inside.
