The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security (Mtess) received complaints against 49 companies that did not pay the bonus to their employees, of which seven have already been brought up to date after the mediation carried out by the state portfolio.
The Ministry’s report reveals that 49 companies have been denounced, seven of them have already been updated, three have not appeared, two have withdrawn and the rest of the companies have hearings set for next week.
In addition, there are 10 firms that have a request for inspection for breach of the law while negotiations with the others continue to pay the bonus.
Companies that do not comply with the norm are subject to a fine of 10 minimum wages for each affected worker.
The largest number of complaints received corresponds to Asunción, Central, Cordillera, Concepción and Alto Paraná. The most affected are the following sectors: bakery, ceramics, gastronomy and private security.

The institution has a digital tool to calculate the amount that each worker should receive according to the seniority they have in their job. Since 2018, the Ministry of Labor has been promoting a strong preventive campaign that aims to comply with this labor law, through its massive dissemination and strengthening of the salary calculation and labor orientation services for workers.
Let us remember that article 243 of the Labor Code establishes a complementary annual remuneration or bonus, equivalent to one twelfth of the remuneration accrued during the calendar year in favor of the worker in all respects (salary, overtime, commissions, or others), the which can be paid until December 31, or at the time the employment relationship ends if it occurs before that time of the year.
Urge to file a complaint
In the event that the employee does not pay the bonus, the worker can file a complaint as of January 2, 2023 in person at the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor, located on Luis Alberto de Herrera street corner Paraguarí, Asunción, as well as well as in the regional offices in the interior of the country.
