Ministry of Justice questions Petrobras about high fuel prices

The Ministry of Justice asked Petrobras for clarification on the recent increase of 18.8% in prices for gasoline and 24.9% for diesel. The notification was made yesterday (10). Increases in fuel prices had already motivated questions from the ministry to the state-owned company in October, but. at the time, Petrobras did not provide the necessary clarifications.

The company should provide information to understand the dynamics of the fuel markets, in order to make suggestions for its improvement with the perspective of consumer protection and defense.

Private refinery in Bahia

Senacon also notified Acelen, the private company responsible for the Mataripe Refinery, in São Francisco do Conde, Bahia. Acelen has ten days to answer how the dollar and changes in the price of a barrel of oil in the international market influence the value of fuels.

The Ministry of Justice took into account the recent news about the increase in fuel prices produced by Petrobras. The information was that the fuel would be costing 6.4% more than that sold by Petrobras, thus raising the price at the pumps.
