Ministry of Health will monitor compliance with regulations in bars and restaurants

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, together with the General Director of Health, Melva Cruz, and the Director of Food Control and Veterinary Surveillance, Reynaldo Lee, met with members of the Chamber of Commerce and representatives of the Association of Bars and Restaurants, to clarify some doubts about the prevailing regulations in the country as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

For Minister Sucre, the meeting was satisfactory and he stressed that “the important issue has been to be able to coordinate and organize ideas, proposals and the way businessmen see the measures that have been taken from their point of view, for what has to do with the preparation of food and highlight that operations will continue to be carried out to supervise that the regulations are complied with.”

He reiterated that the objective is not to fine, but precisely that everything established is respected, “it is not to close stores, but that trade continues to grow,” Sucre said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Cruz detailed with figures how the pandemic has evolved in the country, noting that, although the figures show a drop with a slight increase in cases, if the lethality of the start of the pandemic is observed, According to the statistics, it has a lethality outcome in the unvaccinated over the vaccinated, highlighting the importance of vaccination and that each individual must preserve biosecurity measures.

On the part of the businessmen, Mario Díaz, representative of the Chamber of Commerce, participated, who stressed that the meeting provided the opportunity to clarify doubts and revealed the willingness of the institutions to supervise the biosafety measures that guarantee the safety of the food consumed by the public, rather than punishing or sanctioning.

He added that the verification must continue and that the laws be complied with, which in consensus for the union, is positive; and he reiterated the positive of the meeting with the Health authorities, which will allow them to know where there are problems and that the concerns that have arisen should be clarified, for the benefit of both parties.
