Starting tomorrow (8), about 40,000 vaccination rooms across the country will be open to apply doses of 18 types of immunizers provided for in the national vaccination schedule for this audience. The campaign will end on September 9.

Polio vaccination is intended for children under 5 years of age. Multi-vaccination is for children and adolescents under 15 years of age.

For children, the following immunizers will be available: Hepatitis A and B; Penta (DTP/Hib/Hep B), Pneumococcal 10 valent; VIP (Inactivated Poliomyelitis Vaccine); HRV (Human Rotavirus Vaccine); Meningococcal C (conjugated); VOP (Oral Poliomyelitis Vaccine); Yellow fever; MMR (Measles, Rubella, Mumps); Tetraviral (Measles, Rubella, Mumps, Chickenpox); DTP (triple bacterial); Chickenpox and quadrivalent HPV (Human Papillomavirus).

For teenagers: HPV; dT (adult double); Yellow fever; MMR; Hepatitis B, dTpa and Meningococcal ACWY (conjugated).

According to the ministry, from the age of three, covid-19 vaccines can be administered simultaneously or with any interval with the other immunizers.

When participating in the launch of the campaign, the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, said that the last case of polio in Brazil was registered in 1989. According to him, the vaccination coverage of the population is decreasing all over the world, mainly during the period of the pandemic of covid-19. The minister also urged families to take their children to be vaccinated.

“I ask parents to take their children to vaccination rooms. It is unacceptable that, today, in the 21st century, 100 years after Oswaldo Cruz’s extraordinary effort to introduce these health concepts in Brazil, we still have children with diseases that can be preventable by vaccine,” he said.

The ministry expects to vaccinate about 14.3 million people against polio. All immunizers offered are registered by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).
