The Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, launches this Sunday (15), at Copacabana Beach, south of Rio, the action Incentive of Physical Activity for Primary Health Care. The walk starts at Praça Almirante Júlio de Noronha, in Leme, at 8 am.
People who participate in the activity will find stands with information on adequate and healthy eating, tobacco control and prevention and control of hypertension and diabetes, in addition to the distribution of informative materials.
The purpose of the meeting is to increase the prevalence of physical activity among the population, especially for people with chronic non-communicable diseases, through the inclusion of physical activity in the routine of users of the Unified Health System (SUS).
This year, almost R$ 100 million will be invested in the action. The Ministry of Health will transfer the resources to centers, basic units and health posts and river mobile units to promote physical activity actions for the population. The program includes hiring physical education professionals, adapting existing environments for physical activity and purchasing material.
Application
During the action in Rio de Janeiro, the ministry will also present the 12 Weeks Program functionality, inserted through an update in the Healthy Weight tool, of the Conect SUS application. The idea is to make people eat properly and healthy and be more physically active.
This program is a resource for self-care, in which the user is encouraged to have healthy habits. For this, every week, the participant receives guidance and challenges related to both physical activity and healthy eating, can record the challenges accomplished and monitor progress.
The general coordinator of Physical Activity Promotion and Intersectoral Actions of the Ministry of Health, Fabiana Cavalcante, recalls that physical activity is one of the most effective measures for health promotion and prevention of cardiovascular and chronic diseases, such as heart attack, stroke, hypertension, diabetes and obesity.
“The objective of the 12 Weeks Program is to make the population have healthier lifestyles, promoting health and self-care and also preventing obesity”, says Fabiana.
