Ministry of Health intervenes the Arroyo Hondo Medical and Diagnostic Center (CEDIAH); orders closure of operating rooms

Santo Domingo. – The Ministry of Health, through the Directorate of Qualification of Health Establishments and Services, intervened this Sunday and ordered the immediate closure of the operating rooms of the Arroyo Hondo Medical and Diagnostic Center (CEDIAH), after the death of a patient during a procedure surgical.

The measure will remain in force until the facts that caused this unfortunate event are clarified.

The closure responds to repeated violations of the General Health Law 42-01, in particular non-compliance with the safety and quality protocols established for the provision of health services.

The patient, Pamela Almánzar, underwent several medical procedures at the aforementioned center and subsequently lost her life. In response, the Ministry of Health has summoned the surgeon, anesthesiologist and the medical director of CEDIAH to appear tomorrow morning, Monday, at the Vice Ministry of Quality Assurance and offer explanations about the events.

“We reiterate our commitment to guaranteeing the quality of health services in the country and ensuring that no establishment operates outside the guidelines established by national regulations,” the Ministry highlighted in a statement.

The Ministry will continue to monitor and evaluate the conditions of the center while the corresponding investigation progresses.
