This Wednesday, the Ministry of Health issued a statement confirming the evaluation for the Rural and Marginal Urban Health Service (Serums), which will be carried out next Sunday, September 1. In the text, the sector reaffirms that said test will be characterized by its “quality and transparency.”
The Minsa also points out that health professionals from the fields of human medicine, nursing, obstetrics, pharmacy and biochemistry, as well as dentistry and nutrition, will participate in this new exam.
According to the ministry headed by César Vásquez, there are more than 9,000 registered people.
In addition, the Ministry of Health referred to the medical schools that declined to take part in this process, which they consider improvised and not very transparent. Likewise, important institutions that turned their backs on it, such as the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and Cayetano Heredia.

It is worth remembering that the sector changed the rules through a Supreme Decree. Previously, associations of health faculties and schools were in charge of the annual exam that assessed the knowledge of professionals graduating from the different universities and institutes in the country. For example, the Peruvian Association of Medical Faculties (Aspefam), which prepares the National Medical Exam (Enam), a requirement since 2008 to access positions at Serums.
However, the Minsa is leading this new evaluation with the argument that it seeks to avoid the “business” that, it assumes, the administration of the tests represents for the associations.
Regarding this, the president of Aspefam, Miguel Farfán Delgado, responded to Minister César Vásquez; and explained that the 150 euros that the exam cost was to cover the logistics that involved hiring personnel, optical readers, mobility and security for the decentralized exam.
