The Ministry of Health has started the discussion process for the merger of the Federal Hospital of State Servants (HFSE) with the Gaffrée and Guinle University Hospital. The project is part of the Restructuring Plan for the Federal Hospitals of Rio de Janeiro. According to the folder, the working group held the first meeting to construct and analyze the diagnosis of the units this Friday (8).
According to the ministry, over the next six months, the Hospital Federal dos Servidores do Estado will undergo a preliminary study that will verify the feasibility of implementation. The intention is to create a new university hospital in partnership with the Brazilian Hospital Services Company (Ebserh) and the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Unirio).
The ministry explains that there will be a process of voluntary movement of professionals, which will respect the employees’ choice of other workplaces. In total, federal units have 7,000 permanent employees and 4,000 temporary employees.
Currently, the units have closed emergency rooms, blocked beds, staff shortages and supply difficulties. Two units have already started their restructuring process. In addition to HFSE, the Federal Hospital of Bonsucesso has been under the management of Grupo Hospitalar Conceição (GHC) since October 15th.
The Restructuring Plan for Federal Hospitals in Rio de Janeiro aims to offer a more robust and accessible healthcare system to the population, according to the Ministry of Health.
