On August 17, the president of the Federation of Health Workers (Fetrasalud), Pablo Zambrano, denounced his dismissal and withdrawal from the payroll of the Health Secretary of Caracas. This Monday, August 22, and only five days after the event, he was reinstated in his position, by order of Dr. Ulices Rojas.
Rojas, who is the director of Human Resources of the Ministry of Health, had given the order for Zambrano’s departure. At the time, the leader of Fetrasalud clarified that the dismissal – of which he found out when he inquired why he had not received his salary this month – would not stop his claims: “I will continue in the fight.”
Zambrano – who has led several of the protests in recent weeks demanding the repeal of the Onapre instructions and other demands from the health sector – pointed out through his Twitter account that the restoration of his rights is a step in the right direction, “The fight for rights must be permanent and we know that much more is needed.”

The information was issued through his Twitter account in which he also stated that, “at this delicate moment in national history in which our working conditions have had a drastic setback, which has affected the quality of life of millions of citizens , forces us to seek agreements and understandings for the good of the Venezuelan family,” he said.

He indicated that the current struggle is complex, understanding the difficulties that the country is experiencing, “but it is also necessary to open minds and hearts to understand the pain of our companions.”
“A problem we didn’t have”
The deputy of the National Assembly elected in December 2020Orlando Pérez (PSUV), on August 19, in an interview with Vladimir Villegas on Unión Radio, warned that Zambrano’s dismissal had created a problem that they did not have.
Pérez stressed that, if Pablo Zambrano is a director of a union organization and his right is being violated, “of course the worker’s right must be defended. The employer cannot unilaterally fire him, unless he has incurred in a violation of the LOT. A worker who has a license has stability and protection.”
He also points out that it was necessary to evaluate what he had done, “the man from Personnel (Ulyses Rojas, director of HR) who, instead of helping, what he does is create problems for us that we do not have. If the partner (Pablo Zambrano) is active on the payroll, he is a director (of a union) and has job tenure, his rights are being violated ”.
“I don’t know the decision, but, in principle, it has union jurisdiction according to the LOT and the Constitution, the case should be evaluated and reviewed. It depends on what happened. I believe that this is not the time to make decisions of this type, ”he indicated.
