After a day of national debate that began in October, the Minister of Popular Power for Education, Héctor Rodríguez, announced that schoolwork will be regulated to reduce the negative impact it generates on families and guarantee free time for children and adolescents.
Rodríguez expressed that the measure seeks to ensure that the tasks are really useful, clear, respect a maximum execution time and do not replace the pedagogical process in the classroom. Likewise, he assured that the regulation will be accompanied by a work plan and teacher training, in order to seek a more effective and balanced education that prioritizes the well-being of students.
“Regulation is not enough. There must be a work plan, progressivity, support, a checking system to evaluate whether what we hope to happen is happening, or something completely different is happening,” he stressed.
On the other hand, Rodríguez highlighted that in the national debate on the impact of homework, more than 68,640 students, parents, teachers and 79 universities participated.
