DAJABON – The Ministry of Defence reported today that the border is calm, without important developments in the closing and beginning of the new year.
The institution assured that the deployment of the Armed Forces in the region and on the main roads that connect it with the rest of the country is a guarantee of security.
Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, ERD, made this description of the military presence and the situation on the border at the end of a three-day land tour that began on Thursday, January 13, in Pedernales and ended yesterday afternoon, Saturday, January 15. January in this city.
The main person in charge of the Armed Forces explained that he inspected, together with the officers who accompanied him, all the fortresses that house the main units of the Army.
In addition, the detachments and surveillance posts, as well as the units of the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFRONT)
This included a visit to the fortresses of Pedernales, Duvergé, Pedro Santana Restauración and Dajabón, the 16 posts and 13 detachments of the ERD, and the inter-agency units of Carrizal and Copey.
In addition, the operational bases and school of the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFRONT) in PEDERNALES, Jimaní, Elías Piña and Capotillo.
This body is responsible for the security of the border crossings of Pedernales, Jimani, Elías Piña and Dajabón, which were also inspected, as well as the border markets.
Díaz Morfa said that the functionality of the supplies for food, equipment, weapons and transportation of the different military units was confirmed.
Similarly, the operability of communications, compliance with ground surveillance guidelines, the conditions of the areas in which the soldiers rest and each of the details that ensure equipment and operational readiness.
