Through an official pronouncement, the Ministry of Culture urged the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) to initiate the sanction process for racist insults against footballer Eryc Castillo, which occurred during the match between Cienciano del Cusco and Alianza Lima, played in the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega stadium by the Clausura 2025 tournament.
According to the statement, this incident adds to other recent in the same stadium, such as last week, in which footballer Sashenka Porras would have been a victim of racist comments and acts of discrimination during a match against the National University of San Antonio Abad del Cusco – UNSAAC Women’s Soccer Club.
The Ministry of Culture recalled that, according to Law No. 30037, which prevents and sanctions violence in sports shows, and the Single Justice Regulation of the FPF, every spectator who commits racist acts can be sanctioned with the prohibition of entering any sports scenario for a period of up to two years.
In addition, as part of the prevention measures, the Ministry of Culture offered the National Referees Commission (CONAR) and the Cienciano del Cusco Club Training aimed at strengthening zero tolerance policy against racism in football.
“We flatly reject the act of discrimination that dehumanizes Afro -descendant citizens for their skin color. We invoke the fans to promote respect and coexistence in the stands”, Said Gustavo Oré, director of cultural diversity and elimination of racial discrimination from Mincul.
Likewise, the MINCUL also informed that it will summon Cusco football clubs soon to coordinate joint actions that strengthen the fight against racism.
