Ministry announces selected candidates for the 2nd edition of the Periferia Viva Award

Fliparacatu brings together 63 national and international authors

It was published this Tuesday (15), in the Official Gazette of the Union, the end result of the 2nd edition of the Periferia Viva Award. In total, 178 initiatives were selected from approximately 2 thousand registered projects.Ministry announces selected candidates for the 2nd edition of the Periferia Viva Award

With the theme “Living Periphery is Risk-Free Periphery”, the award organized by the Ministry of Cities reflects on the urgency of climate crises and the importance of actions that minimize socio-environmental risks.

The Southeast region had the largest number of proposals selected (77), followed by the Northeast (57), North (25), South (11) and Central-West (eight).

The award has three thematic axes. In the Popular Initiatives axis, 150 projects will be awarded R$50,000 each. In the Technical Advisory Initiatives axis, 25 will be awarded prizes of R$30,000 each; and three in the Initiatives of Public Government Entities axis will be honored with trophies.

Six initiatives will also receive the Risk-Free Periphery Seal, awarded to projects dedicated to managing climate emergencies, resilience and risk reduction.

The award ceremony should take place in November, in Brasília.
