The Government approved supreme resolutions authorizing the travel of three ministers from Gustavo Adrianzén’s Cabinet to the United States, in order to participate in the next General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
The officials who will be leaving on the trip are José Arista (Ministry of Economy and Finance), Eduardo Arana (Ministry of Justice and Human Rights) and César Vásquez (Ministry of Health). The regulation authorizing the trip of the foreign minister, Elmer Schialer, was published yesterday.
The resolutions note that on 23 September the ministers will participate in the “Future Summit”, an event which, they point out, “has been structured around plenary segments and four interactive dialogues, which will take place in parallel.” The summit, they continue, “will address the most pressing challenges and deficiencies in global governance that have been revealed by recent global upheavals.”
Meanwhile, on the 24th and 25th of this month, the “High-Level General Debate” will be held, which is the main event of the General Assembly, an occasion in which the heads of delegation of each country present the perspectives of their respective countries on the topic corresponding to the session period.
The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, was to participate in these spaces. However, by majority, Congress denied her permission to travel to the United States because Peru is currently facing a series of forest fires that affect various economic aspects, such as tourism, agriculture and animal production.
Ministers Arista and Arana will have a budget of US$2,634.22 for airfare and US$1,760 for four-day travel expenses, while Minister Vásquez will spend US$2,879.47 on airfare and US$1,320 on travel expenses for three days.
