While the president Dina Boluarte prefers to remain silent after learning of the order of 36 months of preventive detention against his brother Nicanor, several of the members of the cabinet chaired by Gustavo Adrianzén have come out to close ranks around the now fugitive relative of the head of state.
One of the first to speak out today about the situation of Nicanor Boluarte It was the Minister of Health, César Vásquez, who attributed the judicial decision to attempts by third parties to destabilize the government.
“In politics there is no coincidence. It seems too coincidental to me that minutes after finishing APEC the media show begins with this legal issue that seeks to destabilize the government; the same enemies of Peru who sought to boycott APEC, who did not succeed, (… ) are part of dark forces. Now they attack the Government and try to destabilize it with these measures that seem to have political operators…”, he indicated without presenting further evidence of his reckless accusations.

“I hope that the Chamber evaluates this case and can amend the judge’s plans again, who seems to have a media zeal, a passion for cameras and loses objectivity when it comes to an emblematic case,” he declared.
Sergio González, head of the Production portfolio, for his part, said that the Government is respectful of the independence of the powers of the State. However, he “demanded” that actions such as preventive detention against Boluarte “be proportional and have no political overtones.”
“There is an intention to destabilize the government of Dina Boluarte, who reaffirms her commitment to continue working for the country,” he said.
In turn, the head of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, Durich Whittembury, with a script similar to that of his colleagues, added that “in politics there are no coincidences,” and drew attention to the fact that the preventive detention order for Boluarte began to be read while the APEC Forum was taking place in Lima. “Justice should not be politicized,” he argued.

The Minister of Labor, Daniel Maurate, also spoke on the same topic, who, with some caution, commented that it is up to the justice system to decide and rule on the matter.
“That a minister could make a statement regarding this situation would be more affecting,” he said. However, he asked that fundamental rights be respected and that everyone have predictability of the Judiciary.
“All Peruvians must respect the decisions of the different democratic entities of the country, the Judiciary, the Public Ministry, the Constitutional Court, the Congress, because sometimes we respect when it suits us and we do not respect when it does not suit us,” he said.
The head of the cabinet Gustavo Adrianzén, meanwhile, according to EFE, in statements to the Foreign Press Association in Peru (APEP) commented that the president is “dismayed” by the court ruling against her brother.
