Venezuelan Transportation Minister Ramón Celestino Velásquez Araguayán reported on Monday that the pedestrian and cargo border crossing between Venezuela and Colombia was reestablished in Zulia, Táchira and Apure.
In the statements, offered as part of a balance from the border after his openinghighlighted that the crosswalk it will be open from 5 in the morning until 6 in the afternoon, while the loading one will be active between 10 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon.
“Today is a historic day for both countries and we are happy with the presence of President Petro, we gave each other a hug and showed affection for the Colombian people. We are more than sure that our liberator Simón Bolívar and Commander Hugo Chávez are happy with this step,” said the transport holder.
He added that all the commercial potential remains open with the regulations established by both countries.
“We hope that this opening will never have the intention of closing,” he said while offering President Petro’s words of gratitude to the Venezuelan people.
Similarly, he reiterated that the common problems will be addressed by the competent authorities, including the fight against drugs.
Finally, he announced that Conviasa and a Colombian airline are prepared to begin flights between the two nations and are only waiting for the permit.
