Minister Vallejo points out that “it is possible to have a balance between the sense of urgency and the times” to reach a constitutional agreement

As a result of the dialogues that have been carried out to channel the new constituent process, the Minister of Government spokesperson, Camila Vallejo, called for a balance to be reached between reaching an agreement quickly and that it be of quality, so that it can be possible in time.

This, after the differences within the ruling party on the matter, where from some sectors of Approve Dignity they ask to reach a 100% elected Convention, while Democratic Socialism hopes that the agreement will be sealed as soon as possible.

Given this, Vallejo declared that “the Government is about to generate a balance. In these things, balances are extremely important, between the sense of urgency, because the citizenry sees that it is very important that there be clarity on the path that the country is going to follow with respect to a constituent process that it knows is relevant”.

“Because the deepest causes that led to the social outbreak are still present and among them is the absence of a true social and political pact that is consigned in a Constitution made in democracy, but also that the dialogue develops in a good way so that the agreement is the most sustainable”, he added.

Likewise, the Secretary of State reaffirmed that it is necessary for the pact to “convoke the greatest number of sectors and understanding that the election of this body is also very important, as the President of the Republic himself has indicated.”

“Those are two central elements for us, sometimes the urgency of reaching agreements versus the quality of the agreement is seen as dichotomous. We as a government believe that it is possible to have a balance between the sense of urgency and the time necessary for this agreement to be prosperous”, declared the Secretary of State.
