The head of the General Secretariat of Government (Segegob), the spokes minister Camila Vallejo, addressed the eventual change of cabinet that could take place in March, shortly after one year of President Gabriel Boric’s mandate.
Although Minister Vallejo did not mention ministries or sub-secretaries that could be modified, in an interview with Chilevisión, she said that “cabinet changes have nothing to do with which party or coalition is rewarded or punished, the President never thinks in that direction.” .
Let us remember that, up to now, the composition of the Executive power map – from the President to the sub-secretaries – presents a predominance of I Approve Dignity in the positions. However, this could change during the first weeks of March. And it is that for months a new air has been anticipated in the government ministries, which would bring another balance of powers in terms of the ruling party political parties and their presence in the various portfolios.

Although there is no confirmed information, sources close to La Moneda say that there could be changes of sub-secretaries this March and that Democratic Socialism would be the coalition that would gain more prominence than it currently has.
“Every time (the President) designs public policies and every time he determines the change in his teams, he does so not thinking about who gets punished from which or such sector, but thinking about how to better respond to Chile and our people to the demands , the emergencies and the historical needs that must be covered,” declared the head of the Segegob.
And he added: “this has nothing to do with who is better positioned to the detriment of others.” In this sense, Minister Camila Vallejo reiterated that both militants and non-members of the coalitions “will be considered to the extent that they respond to that need,” and not under the idea of ”rewarding or punishing someone.”
“When the President makes those decisions, it has to do with how he improves the response capacity with the people in the government team towards the demands of the people and the challenges that they pose thinking about Chile today,” he concluded.
The spokeswoman for La Moneda affirmed that within the Government the climate is one of “being able to update our promise, to renew our commitments. We have very good reasons to be able to see the future, particularly 2023, with optimism and more hope”.
