The government spokes minister, Camila Vallejo, responded to the statements of the general director of the Carabineros, Ricardo Yáñez, who urged Congress to approve measures to reinforce the work of police officers after the outrage that Corporal Alex Salazar experienced by a subject in state drunk.
In this sense, the Secretary of State stressed that “it is very important to point out that the projects on the security agenda seek, among other things, to strengthen the capacities of the police in the central issues: the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking “.

In view of the above, the head of the Segegob pointed out the importance of having “new permanent income to finance the challenges we face in terms of security.”
In this sense, Vallejo recalled the severe setback suffered by the Government of President Gabriel Boric with the rejection of the idea of legislating the tax reform project, assuring that the measure contemplated increasing the training places of Carabineros, among other things.
“I want to remember, and I’m sorry if we are fools with this but we have to be, the tax reform implied increasing 900 places for police training. 250 extra police assistants, implementing the Ombudsman for victims, increasing coverage of the Lazos program, improving technologies and, among other things, it contemplated financing for the project of institutional improvement of the Public Ministry,” he said.

It should be remembered that the general director of the Carabineros, Ricardo Yáñez, issued an invitation “to all parliamentarians, for all the indications, for all the bills that have been sent to Congress, so that once and for all this law goes to light, where the court lines are clear”.
