“Never in my country have those who took the eyes of the young people who went out to protest three years ago been imprisoned, so knowing that in this country where everyone says that there is no separation of powers, there are hundreds of state agents convicted of violations of Human Rights seems surprising to us, because there in Chile, where they say that there is a separation from the State and where they say that the government does not affect justice, there is none,” he said.
As a result of this, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonia Urrejola, distanced herself from the statements of the mayor of Recoleta, emphasizing that she does not represent the government of President Gabriel Boric.
“From the Foreign Ministry I can point out in the first place that Mayor Jadue is a mayor and as such he can give his opinion what he deems appropriate, he does not represent the government,” he commented.
Along the same lines, the chancellor maintained that “in terms of government representation, I believe that President Boric has been quite clear regarding Venezuela.”
It should be noted that the President has been emphatic and critical of the regime of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, where he did not even invite him to the change of command ceremony on March 11.
