Minister Siches warns that the Government of President Boric “is going to be an active persecutor in all crimes involving violence in the south”

In less than 24 hours, at least three arson attacks were recorded in the southern part of the country, specifically in the Region of La Araucanía and in Los Ríos. One of those was an attack recorded at the Curacautín Air Club, where unknown individuals intimidated the caretakers of a hangar and burned three planes.

From the Government of President Gabriel Boric they did not take long to react, condemning the attack, which was awarded by the Resistance Mapuche Malleco group, who left a canvas in the place: “Freedom to the Mapuche prisoners on hunger strike. Wallmapu advances towards national liberation.”

Regarding the incident, the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, stated that “investigative procedures are being developed in light of the evidence collected in the area. Undoubtedly, contrary to what these posters say, our government is going to be an active persecutor in all crimes that involve violence in the south and throughout the country”.

This is how the chief of staff indicated that “we reject these acts of violence and make a transversal call to condemn them, as well as to confront them decisively.”

“We need political and police solutions, continue to strengthen the investigative capacity of our police in the area. And we hope that these facts do not continue to be repeated over time”, he concluded.
