The Government of the President Gabriel Boric served 100 days in charge of our country. It is in this period that the balances of the respective ministries begin, such is the case of the Minister of the Interior Izkia Sicheswho recognized the difficulties that the Executive Branch has had to go through in its agenda due to the security problems that the country is going through.
in conversation with The Mercury of Valparaisothe Secretary of State acknowledged that “it has been an intense start to the government, full of challenges. We had to take office at a critical economic, health and political moment, without a doubt, but we always knew it was going to be complex.”
“The President has repeatedly asked us not to blame the previous government, but to assume the challenges and hopes that citizens have. We knew it was going to be complex,” he added.
Addressing the fight against crime that the Government is carrying out, Siches pointed out that “we are actively working to take care of both some structural problems as well as immediate emergencies (…) I think that the call to stop blaming ourselves between institutions and taking charge of the problems has been very well received”.
In addition, he stressed that “I want to convey to people that we are dealing with them. These are difficult problems to address, but we are putting all the capacities of our police and the State to strengthen the persecution and go find the money.”
Finally, he expressed that “Obviously there are things that are more particular, such as the Aragua Train, which is recognized as a more Latin American phenomenon. But without a doubt, there is all the provision and we hope that the President will soon make announcements along these lines.”
