Minister says in Switzerland that transformation agenda continues in Brazil

On his second day at the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland, the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, participated today (24) in a panel on the economic recovery of countries in the face of the challenges of the current international situation. In his participation, Guedes said that Brazil will continue with the transformation agenda, through the digitalization of services, modernization of regulatory frameworks, privatization of state assets and attraction of foreign investment.

Guedes also participated in several bilateral meetings with executives from multinational companies, including Van Acker, executive director of Emerging at Merck, a German company in the chemical, pharmaceutical and life sciences industry, and Michael Evans, president of Alibaba, a group based in China that operates in e-commerce.

In addition, during lunch with investors, the Brazilian minister spoke about the economic reform agenda promoted in recent years in Brazil and about investment opportunities in the country, especially in the renewable energy, education and health sectors.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Guedes recalled that the fiscal results have been positive, despite the challenging environment, and noted that the flow of foreign trade maintains an upward trend.

Yesterday (23) Guedes participated in a bilateral meeting with the co-president of the investment manager General Atlantic, Martín Escobari, and in a dinner at the BTG bank. Before, the minister had an agenda with the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko.

On the occasion, Guedes reaffirmed the “condemnation of hostilities” and also spoke about Brazil’s commitment to the resumption of peaceful negotiations between the country and Russia.

In this year’s edition of the World Forum, Brazil is one of four countries, or regions, that have exclusive discussion panels. The event, which brings together more than 2,000 country leaders and experts, ends on Thursday (26).
