In response to these statements, Izquierdo’s lawyer, José Carlos Mejía, told Peru21 that the accusations against his client were nothing more than “lies and defamation.”

Likewise, the lawyer informed this newspaper that the Diviac agent, known as ‘Snake’has been cited again by the Congressional Oversight Commission on September 18 at 9 am to answer for the audios where Santiváñez is allegedly heard acknowledging that the government of Dina Boluarte had helped Vladimir Cerron to escape in the presidential vehicle.

‘Culebra’ was summoned by Congress on September 18.

Izquierdo was supposed to attend the Parliamentary meeting on September 11.

However, he was unable to do so for two reasons. The Ministry of the Interior did not give him the corresponding permissionarguing that the authorization had to be given by said portfolio and not by the Police Command.

Second, the Police Inspectorate summoned ‘Culebra’ that same day at 11 am to pick up the document so that the alcohol and toxicology tests could be carried out.

Finally, Izquierdo Yarlequé decided to skip the Parliament session and, on the recommendation of his lawyer, go to the headquarters of the Inspectorate in Surquillo.

Although Minister Santiváñez assured yesterday that his office authorized ‘Culebra’ to appear before the Oversight Committee next week, Mejia said they have not yet been notified of any permits.

“The truth is that up to this point we have no communication from the Command or the Ministry of the Interior, or from anyone,” said the lawyer of ‘Culebra’.

“We are going to proceed the same way as the first time. It was the Human Resources assistant of the Command who notified my client that he had a summons to Congress,” added Mejía.

For his part, Santiváñez denied that he is trying to obstruct the investigations being carried out into the audio recordings that link him to figures such as Nicanor Boluarte and Vladimir Cerrón.

The minister said that his defense has requested that the confidentiality of his communications be lifted. Santiváñez assured that he is also willing to hand over his cell phone for the corresponding expert examination.
