The Minister of Energy and Mines, Rómulo Mucho, highlighted that the El Algarrobo project will be a great contribution to the development of the region Piura. He specified that the El Algarrobo project, declared of interest by Proinversión and the Ministry of Energy and Mines, will not affect the environment.

Rómulo Mucho pointed out that it will be a great contribution to the Piura region due to the generation of opportunities, and its contribution to the mining canon, royalties and taxes.
“The El Algarrobo project is an underground mining venture that will have less disturbance to the environment, managed properly as technology demands. It will be a great contribution to Piura by generating an injection of money and opportunities in exports by providing mining royalties, royalties and taxes, which will benefit the region even more,” he stated through the Regional Communication Network (RCR).
When asked about a recent statement issued by the regional government of Piura expressing its disagreement with the El Algarrobo project, Rómulo Mucho stressed the need to explain to the population the benefits that this work will generate and urged the authorities to understand that a region is developing sustainably taking advantage of its resources with the necessary controls.
“The regional authority has shown its disagreement with this project, but they must understand that a region develops with the sustainable use of resources, and for that we have institutions in Peru and in the world that are in charge of complying with the appropriate controls to produce copper and gold in a clean way, without exploitation and bad practices,” he emphasized.
He indicated that the company proposing the El Algarrobo project and the State must provide more information since the objective is the development of the region.
The minister clarified that a mining project carried out correctly should not be a problem, and on the contrary, it is a boost for the development of agriculture, since currently agronomy is a tool where the synergy between the two main economic activities is found. , agriculture and mining.
He highlighted that other evidence of the coexistence between mining and agriculture is found in the Condestable mining company in the Mala valley and the Cerro Verde mine.
