In the middle of a tour of the province of Chiriquí, the Minister of Security, Juan Pino, said that the asset forfeiture law, which is in the National Assembly, is a spearhead to put an end to criminal actions of money laundering, which allowed to locate the money laundering network that was dismantled through the Quijote operation on Tuesday.
That is why Pino said it is necessary that this law, of domain extinction, be approved in the National Assembly.
He affirmed that this group of Costa Rican citizens had fled from Costa Rica, where there is a law of domain extinction and since there was none in Panama, they came to pose as ranchers and buy large tracts of land.
In the midst of this operation, the capture of three Costa Rican citizens, wanted for crimes of Money Laundering and Drug Trafficking, was also achieved. According to the Director of the National Police, Jhon Omar Dornheim, they will be deported to Costa Rica in the coming days. once the legal procedures for this deportation process are completed.
He said that they had other businesses, that with the law, if they are approved by the National Assembly, it could lead to counteracting this type of crime.
Regarding security in the province of Chiriquí, he assured that they will reinforce the border area, there will be more police presence and that this year the construction of the David barracks must be completed, recovery of surveillance cameras in Boquete, they will reinforce with more facial reading cameras and plates, in addition to acquiring mobile scanners to locate them in Guabalá.
