Here is the full statement:
“May 1, 1886! How can we forget those events in Chicago, in the United States of America, when factory workers rebelled against the prevailing conditions of exploitation and capitalist voracity, were vilely massacred by the State security forces. Their main claim: the fair reduction of the working day to 8 hours. Since then, this date will always evoke the struggles of the workers of the world, and essentially, their invaluable sacrifices for social demands and improvements in their living conditions.
With the example of these heroes, and of the working class that has become the true motor of the anti-imperialist fights, we feel strengthened in our determination to continue promoting the transformation of the neoliberal economic system into a more just, equitable and humane one, as established by our Organic Labor Law (LOTTT), legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez; that has allowed the Venezuelan productive muscle to be positioned in its rightful place, building day by day, with its tenacious effort, a great, free and sovereign nation.
From the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, we salute all the great working masses of this country and we support the policies implemented by the Head of State, to guarantee the rights and social protection of workers, taking concrete actions that have managed to contain and mitigate the ravages of the economic war. May this very special occasion serve then, not only to congratulate the valuable workers in the defense sector, but also to all those who —from different sectors— contribute the material and spiritual strength that national development demands, since we are convinced that in their perseverance, dedication and commitment, lies the prosperous future of this country.
Chávez lives!… The Homeland continues!
Independence and Socialist Homeland!… We will live and win!
The Sun of Venezuela is born in the Essequibo!
Independence or Nothing!… Always Loyal… Never Traitors!
Caracas, May 1, 2023”
