The Minister of Women and Vulnerable Populations, Ana Peña, announced that the Government will provide financial assistance of 400 soles every two months to the children of drivers murdered by criminal organizations linked to extortion.
The support will continue until the beneficiaries turn 18 years old..
The head of the sector specified that The subsidy could be extended in special cases to guarantee support during the transition to adulthood.
He reported that the Ministry of Women coordinates with other State entities for the identification of eligible minors and the efficient implementation of the program.
The measure seeks to mitigate the social and economic impact that organized crime leaves on the families of the victims. As is known, many children and adolescents were orphaned after the murders of drivers perpetrated by extortion mafias.
He indicated that the Ministry of Women will be responsible for channeling resources and administering the subsidy through existing mechanisms to care for vulnerable populations. Besides, It is planned to incorporate this aid into the national social protection system.
Thus, he specified that he will provide Financial Assistance for Orphanhood to the sons and daughters of 12 families affected by acts of extortion in the transportation sector.
