He Minister of Transport and Communications (MTC), César Sandovalsaid the mayor of Lima, Rafael López Aliagahe apologized repeatedly after having publicly questioned it about the controversy around Caltrain trains. According to the head of the MTC, the change in tone of the burgomaster occurred after a meeting in which the Premier, a Deputy Minister of Transportation, advisors of the sector and businessman Juan de Dios Olaechea participated. In that appointment, Olaechea stated that the efforts of the Municipality of Lima in relation to the trains were carried out “vice versa” and demarcated responsibilities of the portfolio directed by Sandoval.
The minister said that, since then, López Aliaga does not maintain any coordination with the MTC on the case, although privately changed positions regarding his management.
