On Tuesday night, September 3, the Minister of Transport, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, denounced an “act of sabotage” against the Ezequiel Zamora railway system, specifically at the La Rinconada station (Caracas).
According to the official, in a telephone conversation with Venezuelan Television (VTV), it was a fire in the electricity room at the station around 6:38 p.m. He indicated that a power plant at the location burned down.
“We have no doubt that it was an act of sabotage. We have recently carried out maintenance on all the circuits, all the plants, all the railway infrastructure. That is why we have no doubt in saying that it was an act of sabotage,” reiterated the minister, who pointed to “far-right factors” as those responsible.
He thanked the fire brigade for their work, which put out the fire “in record time.” He said that the train service was already operating normally after 9:00 pm and that a special surface service had also been arranged for the transport of users.
