The National University of San Marcos (UNMSM) denounced that the National Police of Peru committed an “abuse of authority” during the intervention carried out by the PNP agents in the house of studies, last Saturday. The agents collapsed the gate and a part of the wall with a tank with the purpose of detaining the students who came from the interior of the country to protest against the government of Dina Boluarte.
However—despite the complaint—for the Minister of the Interior, Vincent Romerothe measure has not been an excess, since “there were no injuries.”
“It has not been excessive because there were no injuries. They had put chains, so we used the multipurpose vehicle. What would have happened if the police intervention had been delayed”, explained the Minister of the Interior in the Sunday newspaper Panorama.
He also explained that “the intervention was given at the request of the university authorities.” As he mentioned, “this is subject to the use of procedures established not only in international standards, but also in legal standards.”
“Prior to this violent admission to the university, they had removed the private security guards, they had taken their radios, they had even covered the video surveillance cameras. Therefore, there is a flagrante. The nine gates had been chained,” he stated.
PNP stigmatizes anti-terrorist slogan to justify entry to San Marcos
According to the information obtained by La República, the intervention at the UNMSM carried out by the Peruvian National Police (PNP), without the presence of crime prevention prosecutors, was an anti-terrorism slogan to justify their admission to the superior house of studies and arrest the students who arrived from the interior of the country in rejection of the Government of Dina Boluarte, according to act No. 224-2023 of the Public ministry.
On this, the PNP maintains that, during the intervention, there were descriptions alluding to encouraging acts of violence such as: “Blood spilled will not be forgotten”, “You will not kill with hunger or with bullets” and “Dina murderess”.
