The Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñezspoke about the declaration of a state of emergency in Metropolitan Lima and in the Callaoannounced this Thursday before the wave of extortions who lives in the capital.

Santiváñez hinted that the curfew is imminent.
“Most likely yes [se declare toque de queda] and it will depend on the latest evaluations that we make today,” he indicated in RPP.
When asked about a possible failure of the Executive’s strategy in the fight against crime, the head of the Interior assured that he will step aside.
“We cannot fail on that issue; I do not put myself in that position. (…) I am convinced and I believe that this has to work; and if it did not, we would have to step aside,” he said.
