The Minister of the Interior, Vincent Romeroappointed General PNP Mario Moreno Alvarado as the new director of the General Directorate of Intelligence (Digimin).
The appointment resolution was published in today’s edition of the official newspaper El Peruano.
The officer will succeed Colonel PNP Carlos Cabrejo, who in the last phase of the government of Pedro Castillo cut the budget of Colonel Harvey Colchado’s team by 25%.
Colchado, as is known, leads the policemen who support the special team led by the prosecutor Marita Barreto in the investigations against Castillo’s entourage.
Now Colonel Colchado, who is the head of the Digimin Search Division, will respond to Moreno’s orders.

According to his resume, Mario Moreno was head of the Apurímac Police Front before assuming the position in intelligence. He was also in the PNP Inspectorate, the General Command and the Anti-drug Directorate.
