The Minister of Labor and President of the National Social Security Council (CNSS), Luis Miguel De Camps swore in the new general manager of the National Social Security Council (CNSS), Edward Guzmán in compliance with decree 196-22, after the entity sent a list of candidates to the Executive Power, after the resignation of the past general manager, Félix Aracena Vargas.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in the meeting room of the CNSSin the presence of members of the Council, officials of the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS) and special guests.
Once the new General Manager of the CNSS, Edward Guzmán, was sworn in, he thanked God, the President of the Republic, Louis Abinaderthe Minister of Labor and president of the CNSS, Luis Miguel De Campsand to the sectors that make up the Council, by their designation.
“We have a great challenge to continue advancing with the implementation of the Dominican Social Security System, for the benefit of the citizenry. We are committed to taking the necessary steps to achieve important progress”, said the new General Manager of the CNSS, Edward Guzmán.

The sectors that make up the National Social Security Council (CNSS), valued the appointment of the official, wishing him success in his management while highlighting his professionalism and knowledge of the sector.
Prior to his appointment as general manager of the CNSS, Edward Guzmán was part of said entity on behalf of the government sector, being then president of the Permanent Health Commission.
During the swearing-in activity, SDSS officials were present, the deputy general manager of the CNSS, Marilyn Rodríguez; the Social Security Treasurer, Henry Sahdalá; the Superintendent of Health and Occupational Risks, Jesús Feris Iglesias; the Comptroller General of the SDSS, Wladislao Guzmán and the director of the Dominican Institute for the Prevention and Protection of Occupational Risks (IDOPPRIL), Dr. Fausto López Solís.
Also the Director General in Single System of Beneficiaries (SIUBEN), Jefrey Lizardo; the General Director of the Budget, José Rijo Presbot; Rafael Adolfo Pérez de León, director of the Essential Medicines Program/Logistics Support Center (Promese/Cal); Junior Noboa, National Baseball Commissioner, relatives and employees of the institutions of the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS).
About Edward Guzman
Physician graduated from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), with a Master’s Degree in Direction and Management of Social Security Systems from the University of Alcalá-OISS; and Master in Business Administration, at the Argentine Catholic University (UCA). He is also a specialist in Health Economics and Management and a university professor at PUCMM of the subjects “Principles of Public Health” and “Legal and Ethical Framework of Social Security”, both included in the Master’s program Management in Health.
On August 17, 2020, President Luis Abinader through decree 355-20 appointed him as Vice Minister of Planning and Development of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MISPAS), being also a member of the Health Cabinet of the Government of the Dominican Republic. and responsible for the accelerator concerning older adults of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 “Vacunate RD”.
Prior to his appointment as deputy minister, Guzmán served as Head of the Medical Audit Department of the National Health Insurance (SENASA) health management and coordinated the “Senasa Take Care of You” project and the Macro Contract between the National Health Service of Health (SNS) and SENASA.
