Minister of Labor on the mobilization of transporters: “There is no country that has emerged from poverty with strikes”

The Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Daniel Maurate, pointed out that Peru cannot stop, in reference to the strike carried out this Wednesday by transporters, since it has an impact on the country’s production, generating losses of millions of soles.

Regarding cases of extortion and contract killings, he alleged that the way to eliminate them is by creating a more productive country without paralysis. “There is no country in the world that has emerged from poverty through strikes; strikes rather mean a decrease in production,” he commented.

In addition, he mentioned that left-wing groups joined the strike and invited them to listen to a speech by Pepe Mujica, former president of Uruguay, in which hatred and confrontation are rejected. He argued that productivity is the fight against citizen insecurity.

“The only way to eliminate hitmen is by making the country more productive, why? Because productivity allows us more resources to generate more jobs. And also more resources to combat hitmen, extortionists and give the Police more tools,” the minister said in an interview with RPP.
