The Minister of Health, Julio Borba, presented this Monday the budget of the state portfolio before the Bicameral Commission of Congress that will study the project of the General Budget of the Nation (PGN 2023).
The General Budget of the Ministry of Health is US$ 1,042 million. With the increase in the fiscal deficit to 2.3% of GDP, according to the project submitted to Congress, it would increase to US$ 1,142 million.
Borba referred to the deficit in the main items, such as human resources and hospital maintenance, which have financing within the project.
The health portfolio plans to incorporate 1,548 nursing personnel, the ranks for 3,457 doctors and compensation for higher workload for 3,700 doctors.
The plan to strengthen all health areas is also proposed; as well as the acquisition of new therapy and neonatology beds in the departments of Ñeembucú, Caazapá, Itapúa, Alto Paraná. And, in addition, in the hospitals of Villa Elisa and Villa Hayes.
Sustaining the resources requires some US$800 million, which have their respective sources of financing within the PGN project, the minister indicated.
In terms of inputs, there is the payment of debts for acquisitions, payment of transfer of collection rights with pharmaceutical companies and the affectation of new processes of transfer of Collection Rights with hemodialysis, oxygen and pharmaceutical companies.
The Congressional Bicameral Budget Commission began sessions on September 12, with presentations by the authorities of each State entity in defense of the budget assigned to their institutions.
