The Minister of Health, César Vásquezdefended the plan of the Executive Power to rebuild the prison of The pediment and described as “dog of the hortelano” to those who question the initiative.
The pronouncement was made during a press conference for the first transplant in the National Hospital Dos de Mayo.
“If the government does nothing, ‘why does nothing, crime is winning us’; if the government proposes something, why it does.’ I think there is a lot of dog in the country in the country and, now, in electoral times, they appear as opinion,” he said.
César Vásquez He assured that, in the face of the progress of crime in the country, the construction of prisons “that are on their way, some that were paralyzed and add to this effort a new project is being reactivated.”
“I believe that every effort should be supported in this regard, unless they are in favor of criminals,” self -supporting the Minister of Health.
The executive’s plan has been severely questioned by various authorities and institutions. Ramón Garay, mayor of La Punta, was one of the first to oppose, pointing out security risks, impact on local tourism and lack of citizen consultation.
The College of Architects of Peru questioned the lack of planning and technical viability of the project, which had already been declared unfeasible by the INPE in 2023 due to its high logistics cost.
