As part of the post-pandemic economic reactivation plan, the Panamanian authorities will receive this Sunday the visit of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Soltan Bin Saad Al-Moraikhi, on an Official Visit to strengthen ties in economic and commercial matters.
This visit is part of the post-pandemic recovery of the National Government, which seeks to do business with a strategic partner that has one of the most robust economies in the Middle East region.
Qatar manages one of the largest investment funds in the world, worth $335 billion.
“Both countries share privileged geographical positions in their regions, constituting a positive coincidence for the strengthening of the connection of Latin America and the Caribbean with the Middle East”, highlighted the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Erika Mouynes.
On this occasion, Panama will promote investment opportunities as a logistics center to access the American continent, taking advantage of Qatar’s interest in investing in emerging markets in Latin America in terms of energy, real estate, banking, logistics and sports, with Qatar being the host country. of the Soccer World Cup later this year.
Other activities
At the Palacio Bolívar, the deputy administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), Ana Margarita Reyes, will give a presentation on investment and infrastructure in terms of seaports and airports.
Along with her will be Raffoul Arab Pinzón, General Manager of Tocumen, and Flor Melina Pitty, Director of Ports of the Panama Maritime Authority.
They will also be received by the Canal Authority by the Administrator, Ricaurte Vásquez; the Counselor Minister for the Facilitation of Private Investment, José Alejandro Rojas; the National Secretary of the Public Private Association (PPP), Saleh Asvat and the Ambassador of Panama in Qatar, Musa Asvat.
For his part, President Laurentino Cortizo will grant a courtesy audience at the Presidential Palace, with Soltan Bin Saad Al-Moraikhi, to exchange coincidences in favor of the development of political strategies that aim to strengthen the connection of the Middle East with Latin America. and the Caribbean.
