Minister of Education attends the World Education Forum in London

The Minister of Education, Victor Godoy, participated this Monday (23) in the first day of lectures at the World Education Forum, in London. The objective of the meeting is to discuss the future of the sector, exploring themes for the improvement of world education, especially with the use of technology, innovation and sustainability. Accompanied by a technical delegation from the MEC, he will also discuss, with more than 80 ministers from around the world, the situation of education after the covid-19 pandemic.Minister of Education participates in debates at world forum in London

Today, the event began with a presentation by the World Bank that highlighted the severe impacts of the pandemic on the sector. In addition to the representative of the international financial institution, ministers and secretaries from countries such as South Africa, Djibouti, England, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines also spoke.

In London, Godoy highlighted that Brazil’s National Plan for the Recovery of Learning, which should be announced later this month, is in line with the world’s best practices. Tomorrow (24), the minister will give a lecture at the forum. With the theme The role of education in the development of citizens – How to evaluate the success of education systems and create public policies aimed at the sector, he will present the Brazilian strategy to the participants of the meeting.

“The pandemic brought many lessons learned and we see that countries have worked to overcome historic challenges in education. We realized that the world’s education systems were not prepared to face the pandemic and that the policy of closing schools did not have the desired effect. the actions established in several countries closely and tomorrow we will present the guidelines of our learning recovery policy to collaborate with the sector”, said the minister.

Among the main objectives of the initiative are actions to increase school attendance and reduce dropout and dropout rates, develop teaching and learning strategies to advance school performance and promotion, reduce the age-grade distortion through monitoring of the school trajectory; promote the coordination of actions to combat school dropout and the recovery of learning.

The meeting’s goals are also to contribute to the achievement of the strategies established in the National Education Plan and in the state, municipal and district education plans, to strengthen the training of teaching professionals with regard to the diagnosis of gaps in the teaching and learning processes, in addition to promoting effective and timely interventions within the scope of individualized attention to students and encouraging training in the pedagogical use of digital content.
