The Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), Denisse Miralles, assured that Peru needs to work on promoting large projects that generate more employment and development for the country.
“From the public sector, what we want is for it to be understood that we need to be more agile, more reliable and more modern. We work for citizens, not to have a system of rules that not everyone knows and no one can apply,” he said during his participation in CADE 2025 organized by IPAE Acción Empresarial.
In that sense, he pointed out that it is necessary to strengthen the trust that exists in the institutions. “It is not possible that citizens’ trust in the State has been decreasing and the officials who are there have not done anything about it. We have normalized it,” he added.
For the head of the MEF, the design of public policies “must be sought not from the desk, but from reality” and that is why she noted that they are promoting policies of this type that also involve other portfolios.
Denisse Miralles assured that the intention of the transition government is for the State to once again generate effective development, with clear rules that allow it to be attractive to the private sector.
“Our actions have to be concrete and quick,” he stressed and stated that they will continue betting on the deregulation shock.
GROWTH AND DEFICIT
On the other hand, the minister reiterated that this year the Peruvian economy would grow 3.5%, while inflation would remain stable and low. These results, he noted, reflect responsible macroeconomic policy and stable fiscal management.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that a fiscal deficit of 2.2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is estimated for this year, despite the fact that most analysts estimate a failure to comply with the fiscal rule for the third consecutive year.
“Compliance with fiscal rules generates confidence,” he highlighted and pointed out that there will also be a commitment to tax facilitation and the fight against informality.
