The Minister of Culture and President of the Dominican National Commission for UNESCO, Miracles German, represents the Dominican Republic at the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development-MONDIACULT 2022, which is celebrated from this Wednesday 28 to September 30 in Mexico City.
In this important conference, which is being held again after 40 years, the Dominican official and head of delegation will have an outstanding participation during the thematic session, in which she will deal with the theme “Reinforced and renewed cultural policies.”
During this session, he will address issues of creative freedom, the importance of community participation in culture for sustainable development, and the decentralization of culture. The main challenges and opportunities of the orange economy will also be discussed.
Germán is accompanied as delegates at this conference by Andrés L. Mateo Martínez, ambassador and permanent representative of the Dominican Republic to UNESCO, and Jesús Paniagua, secretary general of the Dominican National Commission to that body.
MONDIACULT 2022, with the participation of some 151 Ministers of Culture and 159 delegations, is developed with the purpose of rethinking cultural policies to face global challenges and outlining immediate and future priorities.
The purpose of this reflection is to shape a more robust and resistant cultural sector, in line with the perspectives of sustainable development framed in the report of the Secretary General of the United Nations entitled “Our Common Agenda” (September, 2021), relative to the resources of culture as our global commons.
The conference will pave the way for the full integration of culture as a global public good in the post-2030 agenda, with the aim of achieving inclusive and sustainable development.
