The Defense Minister, maya fernandez, referred to the State of Exception in force in the provinces of Biobío and Arauco, in the Biobío region, and in the entire region of La Araucanía. In this regard, he stated that “the important thing is that people can feel safe.”
“The important thing is that people can feel safe, can get to their homes safely, can have the supplies they need, that the bread arrives. Therefore, I believe that what is happening is very important,” Fernández said. Friday when asked about his balance of the State of Exception.
“People have to feel safe, which is what they told us when we talked,” added the Minister of Defense.
Fernández carried out a series of activities in Temuco on Friday, such as meetings with the high command of the Army or participating in vehicle controls.
“We have to accompany those who are deployed. I believe that it is not necessary to do it only from Santiago but that we have to be here in the street, accompanying, talking, listening,” he said.
“We have been talking with those who make the mixed checkpoints, both the Armed Forces and the Carabineros, and it allows us to see them in situ, to be on the ground, to see the conditions they are in, and I think that is always important,” he added.
Let us remember that the Government will present an extension to the State of Exception, which already has two extensions applied (the first issued by the Executive and the second approved by Congress).
