Angel Valdes | March 10, 2023

The Minister of the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES), María Inés Castillo, referred on Radio Panama to the new Ministry for Women and the current situation of the National Institute for Women where in an audio the outgoing director, Nellys Herrera, made strong statements on political persecution of the staff of that institution.
After the resignation of the director of INAMU, Nellys Herrera, an audio was released in the media where she made accusations of political persecution. Given these statements, Minister Castillo made it clear that there is no persecution in this government “The style of work in this administration of government and by instructions of President Cortizo there is no political persecution and all of us who are in the public administration at this time have to be focused on working, on going that extra mile to reinforce our programs to finish our government administration led by the president Cortizo».

Regarding the choice of the new minister of the Ministry of Women, Castillo said that this announcement will be made soon “In the next few days the president will be announcing the appointment of the new minister of women, the law clearly establishes that INAMU officials maintain, they have stability, it passes to the Ministry of Women and the only thing that remains insubsistent are the positions of Director and Deputy Director so that the president can designate the Minister and Vice Minister of that ministry ».
