The head of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis), Lesly Shica, was in favor of the actions being undertaken by the justice system that will focus on punishing those who have damaged the health and food security of children who receive school feeding services in various regions of the country.
“We have had communication with the Prosecutor’s Office to support each process, within the framework of the justice system, and we have requested that the investigations be carried out as quickly as possible,” Minister Shica stressed during the activities she carried out in the La Libertad region.
Likewise, he assured that measures are being taken to fight against cases of corruption linked to suppliers behind the products used in the school feeding service.
“One of our first actions was to hold a meeting with the Public Ministry, to engage them in our work of supervising school feeding, and we have also included the Comptroller General of the Republic to accompany us in the supervision operations that we are deploying throughout the country,” he noted.
On the other hand, Shica announced that the new purchasing process for the School Feeding Program, presented today by Midis, establishes the necessary locks to prevent these companies that have violated the health of our children from participating again.
“We are putting the corresponding clauses, but we are also opening the entire market so that companies that want to join do so by demonstrating quality, transparency and suitability,” he added.
Operation “We all eat the same”
Minister Lesly Shica came to the educational institution No. 1579 Corazón del Niño Jesús, in the district of El Porvenir, to participate in a new lightning operation “We all eat the same”, which is a commitment of the Government to guarantee that the school breakfasts consumed by children in public schools are of quality.
During her visit to the educational institution, Minister Shica spoke with the members of the School Food Committee, in order to learn first-hand about the needs and concerns of the educational community in general and to demonstrate that the operation is a concrete action to ensure that food in schools is safe, nutritious and dignified.
Minister Shica Seguil, accompanied by the district mayor of El Porvenir, Juan Carranza Ventura, explained that Midis officials and technical teams have been deployed in all regions of the country to directly supervise the provision of the service, work that is carried out in coordination with the Comptroller General of the Republic and the Public Ministry, reinforcing control and transparency actions, as part of the profound restructuring of the school feeding system.
