Minister Kurt Burneo will support this Friday the 2023 budget bill before Congress

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Kurt Burneo, will appear on Friday, September 2 before the Plenary Session of Congress to support the budget, financial balance and public debt projects, corresponding to fiscal year 2023.

The extraordinary session has been scheduled for 10 am with the participation of the congressmen in person in the hemicycle, in accordance with the call made by the head of that state power, Lady Camones.

The President of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, was also invited to support the 2023 budget.

Last Friday, the Executive sent to the Congress of the Republic the draft of the Public Sector Budget Law for Fiscal Year 2023, which amounts to S/ 214,790 million.

It should be noted that this figure represents a growth of 9% (S/ 17,788 million) compared to 2022.

Similarly, the draft Budget Law prioritizes the functions of Education (19.5% of the PIA), Health (11.5%) and Transportation (9.5%); which concentrate 40.6% of the 2023 PIA.

The proposal also gives priority to the budget for the functions of Social Welfare (6.7%) and Public Order and Security (6.7%), which represent 13.4% of the 2023 PIA.

“The budget increase is 9%, but in real terms it means an increase of around 4%. This increase is possible thanks to the evolution of the economy, the important tax revenues resulting from the prices of minerals that remain at interesting levels, and the economic reactivation plan that we are about to present“said the minister. Kurt Burneo.

He indicated that the 2023 budget has a more decentralized approach, granting more resources from the opening to regional and local governments. According to the proposal, the resources allocated to regional governments will grow by 16.4%, while those directed to local governments will increase by 38.1%.
