The Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Juan Lira, met separately with representatives of the National Society of Industries (SNI), the National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep) and the Peruvian Chamber of Construction (Capeco). to generate consensus that promote decent employment and resolve the problem of labor informality.
The head of the MTPE highlighted the importance of developing an agenda of openness and social dialogue with all sectors of the labor sphere, in order to listen to their proposals and be able to develop joint policies. “These bilateral meetings are important to be able to work together for the development of our country”, he emphasized.
For his part, the president of the SNI, Jesús Salazar, pointed out that informality must be combated by generating demand for work and stressed that the industry is an engine for the development of formal employment.
Meanwhile, the president of Confiep, Óscar Caipo, pointed out that employment has become precarious in the country and that it should be formalized. “The best indicator of well-being is formal employment“, he pointed.
Likewise, he suggested the strengthening of Sunafil to help a better transformation towards formality.
Concertation
In his turn, the president of the Peruvian Chamber of Construction (Capeco), Jorge Zapata, highlighted the openness to dialogue and agreement of the head of the MTPE, since he considers that it is the best way to develop policies for the benefit of workers and employers.
He pointed out that among the topics that should be the subject of conversation are combating informality and underemployment; as well as the analysis of the rule that specifies the scope of outsourcing; the increase in the Minimum Vital Remuneration; the elaboration of the Preliminary Draft of the Labor Code; as well as the violence unleashed by criminal mafias in the construction sector.
