The Minister of Education, Raul Figueroa, responded to the criticisms issued by the president of the College of Teachers, Carlos Diaz, after the announcement of the Ministry about the mandatory return to face-to-face classes from March 2022.
“Minister Raúl Figueroa once again shows that he has not learned his lesson and is venturing irresponsibly, regarding the fact that we do not know in what sanitary conditions our country will be in March of next year,” said the president of the College of Teachers.
In this regard, the Minister of Education indicated in conversation with T13 Radio that “it is not about predicting the future, it is about anticipating what is coming. The irresponsibility of being a third year without classes, coming from a teacher and coming from a teacher leader I think it is absolutely reprehensible to pretend to obstruct this process”.
“We have to put an end to those statements that are absurd at this point. It has no pedagogical basis, in health, in the needs of families and students, I do not understand what the President of the School intends at this point of Professors, who also has a deep disconnection with what teachers think, “added the Secretary of State.
“For a union leader to come, who has been a permanent obstacle to everything we have had to do during this period, to say that the beginning of the school year in March 2022 is irresponsible, I think it is outright absurd”, he continued.
Regarding students not inoculated with the anticovid vaccine, Minister Figueroa said that they will also be able to attend face-to-face classes.
“If a student is not vaccinated, they have every right to attend classes as well. But it is not forbidden for a student to attend school if they have not been vaccinated. There is also a fundamental right here, which is the right to be educated and to be voluntary. the vaccine, the right to education cannot be subject to that vaccination, “said Figueroa.
“It is important to get vaccinated, because the high vaccination rate means that physical distancing is not a required measure,” added the Minister of Education.
